Everybody please keep an eye on the website for news about the launch. If the winds are over 20 on Saturday we can't fly we'll have to go with Sunday. I don't expect to make any decision until Friday night at the earliest.

The winds on Saturday are going to be unacceptable so the launch will be held on Sunday.

Here are the parking and ground conditions at Amesbury (Woodsom Farm Park) as of Fri 22-Mar-2013 7PM:
(1) The driveway is mostly bare pavement, very passable.
(2) The parking area is 80% snow covered 4 inches or less, wet in places, passable.
(3) The field is snow covered with a hard crust on top, average six inches or less.
(4) Impression: There is less snow than at the 9-Mar TARC launch. Even though it has been warm during the day, the cold nights have prevented a mud condition on the field (yea!). The range ground conditions should be similar to the 9Mar launch.
(5) Recommendation: Same footwear as the 9Mar launch. I will bring the toboggan (but we could also use the cart) to haul the gear to the range head as the path appears as packed snow. If the launch is pushed to Sun 24Mar, there will likely be less snow and more wet.

To add to what Alan said, don't even think about driving on the road and please try not to make ruts in the parking lot.
