Don't carve your summer plans in stone just yet. Our traditional Acton launch site, the School Street soccer fields will be infested every Saturday and Sunday this summer with cricket(eer)s. We'll be discussing alternatives at the next meeting. Pencil in the dates but the location will be different.

More on this as it develops.

As interesting (yawn) as my exploits in England were I wanted offer a useful suggestion concerning an alternate field for Acton.

See the post below.

There is a small field in Peabody, MA called Kennedy Field. It is used for youth soccer. I have launched A's and B engines there in the past and David has flown his drone there. I don't know what the availability is on a Saturday afternoon or who to contact. I imagine the Peabody Parks and Recreational Department is a good start.

Take a look, I would be curious as to what you think.
To find the field you can Google Kennedy field in Peabody, Ma

I got on Google Maps satellite view and compared Nara Field to Kennedy Field. I had both maps set at 1"=200'. Kennedy Field appears to be significantly bigger.

There's no standing contract so no reneging. They did beat us to the park/rec office but if they are going to use it every weekend day, being there first may not have ensured we could have held our dates.

We are looking to contact the cricketeers to see if there is some compromise that can be worked out. No guarantees but maybe they have built in make-up days for weather postponements that they may be able to cede to us if they get good weather on their primary days. Or, maybe they use it for a few hours early or late in the day and we could have it for some period of time (although, regular cricket matches go on for days so that may not be a bright spot).

We'll keep you advised as the situation develops.

Thanks Ken! Yeah the "goes on for days" stuff I've heard about... I did witness a match once a very long time ago... but since I had no clue as to the rules of the game it was difficult to understand what was happening! Of course I still have no clues as to the rules and that commercial I've seen doesn't help!
