Does drogue-less separation at apogee followed by a main chute at predetermined altitude qualify as 'active recovery' per NAR guidelines ? I think yes, since the physical configuration of the rocket is changed at apogee and it is no longer ballistic, and obviously the main deploy dramatically slows the descent and further changes the configuration.

If not, I will add a small drogue or streamer to the apogee configuration of the DX3 for its L2 cert flight - maybe on Saturday if it's a fairly calm day.

Thanks,
- Matt

You are correct. The rule was made to keep people from getting their certification with a saucer and things like that.
