Recovered 2 rockets from Amesbury was created by dlindbergh
Today I recovered 2 rockets from across the Pow Wow river in Amesbury.

One was "Autonomy 1" built by Boris Katan and myself - lost in November 2011.

The other belongs to someone else. See pics; owner is welcome to claim it.

(Somehow I suspect the owner will not be too anxious to refly it.)

I am surprised to see Autonomy 1 again.

Do you think the dark line across the wings is a waterline?

The other one looks like it used to be a Fat Boy.

Yes, that's the waterline. It had amazingly little crash damage; the mud is very soft.

When I eventually found it (after an amazonian jungle adventure including blood-sucking leeches and elephantiasis...I'm still recovering) the back end was sticking out - just the part past the waterline. It took me 45 min to get it out; in the end I wasn't able to get the nose cone (it's still in there), but I got the rest.

I'd meant to go look for it in the winter once the Pow Wow river was frozen, but it never got cold enough. (Probably just as well; it would have been impossible to get out of the frozen mud.)

Re the other one, yes maybe it was a Fat Boy, but this one is modified with a cluster of 4 engines. Which maybe explains how it ended up in the swamp.
