Where can I get the rail needed for rail launch pad? What design works well for large sport rockets?

The manufacturer can be found at www.8020.net. The 10 and 15 series are what are usually used for launch rails. I got a 4' and 6' length of 1010 from McMaster-Carr at www.mcmastercarr.com.

The 1010 is used for the "Standard Rail" and standard rail buttons. Good for rockets up to about 20 lbs and a really good idea for anything over 1-2 lbs. These are the rails normally used at the CMASS HP pads.

The 1515 is often described as "Extreme Rail" and requires larger extreme rail buttons on the rocket. They are more often used at big HP launches for projects weighing on the order of 10 to 100 lbs. CMASS has at least one of these but it does not get used often.
