Our next ARC-only launch event  is scheduled for 22 March in Acton on the School Street field. We'll be providing practice and qualification flights from 11-3 EDT. Our final ARC-only launch is scheduled for 05 April.

The 2025 Launch Schedule will be published by mid-March.

To make it absolutely clear, CMASS does not allow "sparky" motors at any of our launches.

 Sunday's launch was a fine end to our flying season. On 
Saturday several of you learned the value of checking the website even if the sun is shining. The forecast winds (and thankfully the actual winds) exceeded what would be safe. Although it was a little cooler on Sunday the winds were minimal allowing around 250 flights from MicroMaxx to J. We had a Level 1 and Level 2 certification (congratulations Jim and Joe). We wrapped things up with a night launch that had an variety of strange illuminated rockets. Jim Flis has some photos on his website and here's a video of a few of the night launches.

October 23 and November 6 Launches

Both of these launches were well attended considering the less than ideal weather conditions. Each launch had about 220 flights. The weather on October 23 was cold and the wind was at the upper limit of what is acceptable. November 6 had far less wind but was still seasonably cold and the overcast skies made it feel colder than it was. It seemed that we had more rockets drift off the field under chute on the less windy day which also had way too many prangs from lack of recovery system deployment. On a more positive note we did have three successful hybrid flights in three attempts which I sure is a CMASS record. The launch also featured one of Boris Katan's insane clusters. We still can't put pictures in the gallery. That will be fixed when the flying season ends and Howard can set up the improved website.
