Amesbury field question was created by Old Dog
Hi All,
Is Amesbury suitable for the mobilty challenged? My wife uses either a cane or a rollator,(kinda a rolling walker with a seat and storage.) Uneven ground is tough for her. Also, assuming it is suitable I'm guessing it  would also be ok to drop her off along with stuff before parking whereever we are supposed to.Thanks

We can park up near where the pads are set up, so there is no need to do a dropoff... The ground will probably be a bit challenging though (it's not like Acton, it's basically a hay field), the road where we're parked is probably about 100 - 150 feet from the pads, and it's possible to spectate from there.   A few folks set up their areas next to their cars.

John is correct. We used to be restricted from parking at the launch site but we've been able to park there since the pandemic.

Some years back, a coworker of mine who is wheelchair-bound launched with us a few times. He used a motorized scooter to get out to the pad area from the road but he was very wary of the terrain. You should evaluate the field yourself to gauge the suitability for using the rollator. While those are great on hard, smooth surfaces as a support for walking, the field may require some lifting of the unit to navigate.

Observing from the roadway is certainly an option.
