american_textile_history_museumCMASS was invited to set up a table at the American Textile History Museum's Super Saturday To Infinity And Beyond day. While it may seem a strange place for a model rocket display, they have several themed events every year with free admission and this year they had a Smithsonian traveling exhibit on space suits.Typical attendance on a Saturday is 50. These special events do better and they told us there were around 500 people in attendance. The museum people were extremely cooperative and gave us all the space we wanted. CMASS was well represented by Howard, Fred, Matt and his son (who has a future in sales!) Dan, Ed, John and Kenn. I spent most of the day sitting and looking presidential. We had the opportunity to listen to a fascinating talk by David Reed, who worked flight dynamics for the first four Apollo missions. John pointed out that he was a real "steely eyed missile man"! And they gave us pizza for lunch. We had many interested people who stopped by our tables and we gave out a bunch of free kits and CMASS brochures. Many had flown rockets at one time or another and there were some interesting stories like  the woman who flew rockets at the end of her wedding reception or the guy who landed flaming wadding (he now knows why that's a bad idea) on the fire station roof.
