evev the cars are sociel distancing 20200528 1120319997The Gang that Couldn't Launch Straight headed west this past Tuesday in search of cricketeers. Finding none, they launched some rockets instead - 20 flights in all. The weather was sunny, temps in the 70's with slight wind blowing toward School Street. We set up one launch pad for an LPR day, motors ranging from 13 mm A to an Aerotech E20, with one cluster (Tres) and one two stage (Centaur). ibis 20200528 1677129185Ron Q served as LCO, RSO, announcer and all around good guy. Only one maiden flight, a Semroc Andromeda on a Quest C12-4. It was a great flight, but the chute did not open, resulting in popped fin on landing. We also had one core sample when the Centaur separated at ejection. Fortunately there was no damage. Scott was in an adventurous mood trying to push the limits of the field, flying several C6 motors with smaller rockets and indeed punctured the 1000 ft ceiling, with a scratch-built rocket launched on a C6-7 that hit 1173 ft. More impressive, it landed safely on the field. Pictures are in the Gallery appended to the Bandit Launch folder.

The Bandit Rocketeers pulled off another launch last Thursday - and it was another great day for launching at Woodsom Farm - sunny, temps in the 60's with slight winds blowing toward the parking area. There were two launch pads with controllers this time as Guyf with multiple d pods 20200518 1107678919 brought his. A rough estimate of about 20 launches again with motors ranging from 13 mm to an F50-6T. Only a couple of maiden flights this time. Mine were the Hydra VII, on three C6-5's, and a modified clone of the US Rockets 'F with Multiple D Pods' (not the best name for a rocket) on four C11-7's and one E16-6. No lost rockets this time and one minor damage. Pictures are in the Gallery appended to the Bandit launch folder.
