***RE-POSTPONED***
Due to ongoing red flag fire conditions, we will be unable to conduct our launch in Amesbury on the 16th of November. We will see what we can do to reschedule in December.
To make it absolutely clear, CMASS does not allow "sparky" motors at any of our launches.
This was our first joint launch with the new Rhode Island Model Rocket Association club at their West Kingston launch site. Since they haven't amassed a lot of launch equipment yet, we brought the CMASS trailer and set up our usual range. I'm not sure if they grow sod or hay there but the field is flat and they mowed the area we were flying off of. Access to the launch area is a dirt road. It rained the day before so there were a few puddles. Determined not to get the trailer stuck, I drove rapidly through them. Evidently it's possible to get both wheels of the trailer off the ground at the same time!. Attendance was better than expected considering we had to push the launch to Sunday which was Father's Day. I'm not sure what the total headcount was but there 11 CMASS only who took advantage of their Season Pass. The weather was nice with a little wind that died down at the end of the day as we were tearing the range down. There were over 100 flights from 1/8A to I. That's an I in the photo on the left. Kenn was LCO all day and we heard no complaints from the farm animals. Speaking of animals, Jason from AMW was there. There are picture in the Gallery and a video on YouTube. Many thanks to RIMRA for inviting us.
