CMASS Holds ARC Launch

On Sunday, March 9, CMASS held a launch in Acton, MA for middle school and high school student teams participating in the American Rocket Challenge (ARC).
In attendance were:
- Diamond Middle School, Lexington. Made 1 test flight using AT/QJet F41W.
- Greater Lowell Tech. Made 2 test flights using AT F27R.
- River Valley Charter, Newburyport. Made 1 test flight using AT F63R.
- Lexington High, teams 1 & 2. Made 2 test flights using AT F42T.
- Brookline High. Made 1 test flight using AT F20W.
WARNING: If you are using AeroTech reloads, we learned that there are still bad AT 24/40 casings being sold including, reportedly, by AeroTech! These casings were “manufactured from aluminum tubing that was outside of the specified dimensional tolerance. This impacted the thread engagement of the forward and aft closures, which increases the likelihood of a closure releasing at motor ignition.” Since AT casings do not include serial numbers, the only way to detect a bad casing is to measure its diameter. Motor casings that have an ID exceeding 0.9071 inches should not be used. Contact AeroTech if you discover you've purchased one of these casings:
