Recap: Thank you to the twelve or so members that represented CMASS today at the John Harland memorial service. We spoke with Nancy Harland who very much appreciated us being there. Thanks again for your attendance, -Alan ///

I plan to attend, and plan to arrive by 3:45.

John was such a great guy. Thanks for coordinating this for the CMASS club Alan. I’ll definitely be there however I’m not sure I can make it by 3:45. I’ll do my best.

Let me emphasize that we'd like to show John's family how much he meant to our club. As of this writing, we barely have a handful of members attending. As Alan suggested, even if you didn't know John well or at all, if you can be there for at least the wake, please meet with us at 3:45. John and the hobby deserves a good showing.

Reminder: For those available to attend John's visitation/memorial service Friday 23-May-2025, we'll rally as a group at 3:45 PM in the parking lot of the venue at 116 Main St, Plaistow, NH 03865; and go in as a group at 4PM. Dress shall be a CMASS button down collar shirt or polo if you have one. Even if you didn't know John, attending shows you honor his appreciation of the hobby, so please attend if you can. Post service 6PM we're invited to dinner at Jamisons in Hampstead NH. Thanks, -Alan [ call/txt 603.401.7285 ] ///

I plan to attend.

After the visiting hours and service, people can meet at Jamison's in Hampstead, NH.

Nice idea, Alan.

I still fly a couple of John's rockets that he gave away when his mobility issues impacted his flying.

I would love to honor him.

I will try to come though it will probably be a stretch to get there by 4pm so go on in without me.

Unfortunately, I don't have a CMASS shirt but I will wear a rocketry-related polo.

Alan, thank you for putting this together. John was, and continues to be, a big part of our club. I hope we get a good turn out to honor him. If you plan on attending as part of this group, please let us know in this thread.

Here is a link to his obituary.

This is unfortunate news. For those available to attend, we'll rally as a group at 3:45 PM in the parking lot of the venue at 116 Main St, Plaistow, NH 03865; and go in as a group at 4PM. I'll be there at 3:30 PM to coordinate. Dress shall be a CMASS button down collar shirt or polo if you have one. Even if you didn't know John, attending shows you honor his appreciation of the hobby, so please attend if you can. Thanks, -Alan [ call/txt 603.401.7285 ] ///

I received the following email today:

Hi Kenn,

I wanted to let you know that John passed away on Sunday. He had a debilitating stroke on Saturday that was too much for him to survive. Our children and I were with him so that is a comfort to us.

John loved rocketry and, due to his mobility issues, really missed launching rockets. Thank you to the club for providing years of happiness to John.

Arrangements for John have been made at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home in Plaistow. Visitation hours are on Friday 5/23 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Service at 5:15 to about 6:00 also at Brookside. We will be making arrangements at a local restaurant for a post-service dinner for attendees of the service.

Best regards,

Nancy Harland
