Launch!

This post will have information on the next upcoming launch.

Our final scheduled launch for 2026 will be on Sunday, 01 November. We should be back to Standard Time so will conduct our annual joint evening launch with N.O.R.G.; put some lights on a low- or mid-power rocket and join the fun in the dark.

As there weren't too many HPR flights at our previous launch, anticipate added activity in that areana. With that in mind, more volunteers will be helpful, especially to handle any certification flights. If you want to help out with cert flights, let Guy, Howard or Frank know.

Our new layout will be in force for parking and establishing the flight line (the area where flyers prepare their rockets and spectators can safely view the launches) to better comply with the NAR Model Rocket Safety Code. If the wind cooperates, the NAR High Power Rocket Safety Code will be followed, as well. if you haven't flown with CMASS before and are planning on flying a high-power rocket or are going to attempt a Level certification, please bring a copy of your computer simulation for our team to review. It's best to keep your initial flight low so we know that you know what you're doing. Even a well designed flight may be disallowed based on the wind direction and strength.

I seem to remember a document listing the rules for the night launch from previous years but can't seem to find it. Could someone share? Thanks!

Turn your clocks back Saturday night and get ready for our final launch of the year. As we do, there will be a joint night launch with N.O.R.G. after our daytime event. Please comply with the parking and flight line layout, and mind the wind conditions to be sure to recover your rockets on the field.

With two days until the launch there are only two volunteer positions that have been claimed; without volunteers, we can't have a launch. In addition to our usual volunteering opportunities, we have an emergency request for someone to buy supplies for our lunch on the field; Matt isn't able to attend, so we need someone to step up and buy the hot dogs and buns. He usually gets two packs of 21 Hebrew National hot dogs from BJ's and three packs of 16 buns. Drinks, snacks, ice, and water for the hot dogs are needed, too. If someone had such a club membership and can be at the field before noon, the club will reimburse you for the cost. Please let me know if you can do this by emailing the President through the website, but wait for me to confirm in case we get more than one person offering.

The predicted wind conditions look like high-power flying will be available but altitude may be limited by the direction of the wind. The night launch will be a low- and mid-power event only. No sparky motors are ever allowed at our launches, and especially our night launch.

With the dry conditions on the field and the large number of CATO's we've had recently, we need to be vigilant about any possible ignition we cause on the ground. This is especially important during the night launch. If you see something, say something. We have the equipment to handle any small incident before it becomes a big incident.

We have a volunteer for the food supply. Plenty of other opportunities available.

Hey, does anyone have an Estes F15-6 that they'd be willing to trade for an F15-4 this Sunday? If so, LMK so we can hook up for a trade. I'm looking for a motor for my new Great Goblin.
