The first video is from NARAM 3 back in 1961. I could not help notice that the narrator, G. Harry Stine, mentions that men and boys fly rockets. Reminds me of the scene from "The Life of Brian" where only men were allowed at the stonings. I'm not sure if woman had to dress as men to fly rockets back in the early 60's. There is a brief scene where it appears that they have female LCO's.
Even 58 years ago people were building great kits and realized the extreme danger of building your own engines and the importance of keeping the hobby safe.
This second video is a tribute to the man, I mean person, that started it all.
