I am working with a Venture crew in Lexington, which is a co-ed scout troop of high school age kids. Most of them have never done rocketry, but I am concerned that if I start out with something too small it will lose their interest. What is your experience on this?
I am also concerned about cost. Something like an Aerotech Mustang is really easy to build, but it would be $80-$100 by the time they get a couple of motors. Any suggestions for something that would be big enough to be interesting, ideally that could fly <1000ft on D/E motors, but relatively easy to build and under $50 with motors.
I was thinking maybe an Executioner or a Big Daddy, but I am not a good judge of how easy it is to build something
Actually, Estes has one of their Pro Series II E2X rockets on sale,
. They have it for $15.99 down from $44.99. That's a great deal for a rocket like that. Easy build, fly's great on their 29mm E and F BP motors.
