While we were launching, a group of drone enthusiasts set up a race course on one of the soccer fields by the parking lot. It turns out another thing they like to do is follow other flying objects. One flyer brought his drone to the field and recorded this video:
Pretty good video. I apologize for my reaction at the time of the filming; the volume of Qubits was getting to me. I was unaware that the quadcopter flyer had talked with club members and the rocket's owner prior to the flight.
I met with him in the parking lot at the end of the day and we had a good discussion about our respective hobbies. Based on his skill level with his equipment, I feel this can be done safely. He would like to come back to our next launch and do some more recording, possibly even our night launches. I look forward to seeing what can be done with multiple attempts.
It looks like a large size, low flying model would yield the best results. Some of Boris' saucers and Frick-and-Frack flights would be amazing.
