The Hatch Makerspace (www.watertownlib.org/hatch) in Watertown is allowing CMASS to hold meetings there. People occasionally work on rockets during meetings, but being at the Hatch will allow them to take it to a whole new level.

The Hatch has equipment, ranging from sewing machines (parachutes), a vinyl cutter (decals), a laser cutter (fins), and several 3-D printers (nose cones, e-bays) that can be used for free. Laptops are available that have the software for 3-D printing and laser cutting installed. A collection of Raspberry Pi's are available for use along with various hand tools.

There are always volunteer staff on hand to help you learn how to use the equipment, and you are required to let them run the 3-D printers for you.

Use of the Hatch is free, the only requirement is that you sign in on the laptop that is in front of the door as you enter.

Incidentally, the Hatch also has some free materials, including wood and cloth.

The Hatch is located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown. There are a couple of public lots in the area with metered parking, but all metered parking is free after 6:00 pm.

The Hatch is run by the Watertown Free Public Library and, as you may have noticed, they seem to take that "free" seriously.
